Integrative art brings together theories around art and counselling to create simple, practical ways to encourage clients (and ourselves) to express themselves on paper. We teach accessible ways to encourage children, adolescents and adult clients to draw and paint. We introduce evidence-based ways of using art as an assessment tool and help you overcome the “I can’t draw” part of our clients and ourselves. Our approach includes the work of Jung, Transpersonal, Gestalt and Trauma therapists in a sensible, client-centred way.
We focus on learning key practical skills and on becoming free to express and create in our own drawing and painting, which enables our clients to do the same. Our groups are small, friendly, accessible and interactive. Our weekends also include music, meditation, breath work and sandplay.
It’s not just about learning how to work with clients, its also about becoming part of a supportive and nourishing group for ourselves. All our art courses are suitable for BACP and UKCP counselling and psychotherapy Continuing Personal Development (CPD).
We recommend that you are in personal therapy during our courses and if we feel you would benefit from it, we will talk to you one-to-one. We may be able to suggest therapists. We can provide creatively attuned supervisors, and work to BACP standards. All materials and refreshments (not lunch) are provided. Courses are taught on a regular basis in the London area.
